Things To Do In Ring / Old Parish
Our self catering holiday rental accommodation Brownes Farmhouse is located in the heart of Old Parish.
For Hikers or Bikers, Walkers or Bird Watchers, Ring and Old Parish are hideaways of cliff-top trails, unspoiled beaches, inland drumlins and leafy glens. Add to this a hospitable people, an effervescent culture, and everything that makes the Gaeltacht different is on the doorstop. For more information on the Waterford Gaeltacht visit

Why not visit the small fishing port of Helvick or take the Cunnigar walk. The Cunnigar can be found by heading for Ring College or
Coláiste na Rinne go past the entrance and take the next turn right , there is parking for a number of cars. This is 2.5 miles long and you are almost at Dungarvan at its end point, it is surrounded by an expanse of water on both sides. It is called the Cunnigar from the word Connin meaning rabbits, as in olden times they were bred on the strip of land and due to the water on both sides were trapped until food was short and they were killed for the dinner! While you are there why not pop into
Joan Clancy's Art Gallery along the way. In Ring, why not try the Seaweeds bath at
Solás na Mara.
Glencorrin Beach
Glencorrin beach is to the right as you leave the house. Continue on this road turning a bend and travelling up hill. At the first cross roads, this is tiny so you might miss it!, turn left through a leafy avenue. There is ample car parking and the beach runs all the way to Ardmore.
Ballymacart Cove, Old Parish
5 minutes by car or 15 minutes walk from the house. Its 25 minutes on the way back as it is up hill but my four year old can do it - so , no excuses. Why not look for periwinkles, crabs, check out the cliffs for the Chough, an endangered species of bird. Teach your children to skim stones up the stream. If you cross the rocks to the left you will discover Foill an Uisce (reservoir of water). This is a great place to have a picnic but make sure you check the tides. You could get stuck and your mobile will not work down there! But its all part of the adventure.
